ROOSEVELT JOHNSON

Roosevelt Johnson, 59, of the 200 block of Stratford St., a meter reader and collector, died March 18, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born in Falls County, Texas. He was employed with Commonwealth Gas Services for 20 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine S. Johnson; a daughter, Jennifer Cooke of Portsmouth; a son, Michael Johnson of Portsmouth; a sister, Alberta Taylor of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Prime Johnson of Portsmouth, Leroy Johnson of Hillsoro, Texas and Joseph Johnson of Dallas, Texas; a grandchild, Tiayen Stevenson of Beaufort, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Jean Johnson and Janet Lewis; a brother-in-law, Allen Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Sidney Foster Jr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at noon Thursday. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
