GEORGE REYNOLDS CONGDON BROOKS JR.

George Reynolds Congdon Brooks Jr., 65, of Colington Harbour, died Saturday, March 18, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. Mr. Brooks was born in Norfolk and retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. as a test center foreman. Mr. Brooks was a graduate of Virginia Tech University and was a member of Saint Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church, Outer Banks Kiwanis Club and the Tidewater Chapter Telephone Co. Pioneers.

Mr. Brooks is the son of George Reynolds Congdon Brooks Sr. of the Meadows Retirement Home in Chesapeake and the late Mercedes Sykes Brooks and the husband of Anne Lankford Brooks.

Besides his wife surviving are two children, Donna Brooks Horbal of Midlothian, Va., and a son, William Congdon Brooks of Chesterfield County, Va. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Duke Brooks. Also surviving are a brother, Colton Lohr Brooks of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Barry James Horbal and Lauren Anne Horbal, both of Midlothian, Amanda Rene Brooks and Adam Jared Brooks, both of Chesterfield County and was preceded in death by a grandson, William Congdon Brooks Jr.; two nephews, Lohr Brooks and Darrell Brooks, both of Virginia Beach; and one living aunt and uncle, Inez Sykes Lassiter and David Sykes, both of Boykins.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 1995, at 11 a.m. in the Saint Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church by the Rev. Charles Gill. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 23, 1995, at 2 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Va. by the Rev. Charles Gill and the Rev. David Adkins. A viewing for Mr. Brooks will be at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and a visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Don Porcher Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Saint Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church, Nags Head, N.C. 27959.
