Raymond E. Highsmith of Virginia Beach has been elected Illustrious Potentate of Khedive Shrine Temple for 1995.
He and his wife, Deborah Ann, own Highsmith Insurance Agency Inc. of Virginia Beach. He is a Norfolk native and a graduate of Granby High School and East Carolina University.
According to the Chesapeake-based Khedive Temple, High-smith's masonic affiliations include Willis V. Fentress Lodge No. 296; Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies; John Walters Royal Arch Chapter; and Grice Commandry Knights Templar.
He was initiated into Khedive Shrine Temple in November 1977. He is a past captain of the Khedive Motor Corps; director of Uniformed Units of Khedive Temple in 1990; a member of Chesapeake, Suffolk, Eastern Shore and Virginia Beach Shrine Clubs; and is an honorary member of the Knights of Mecca.
He was elected to his new Shrine post at the temple's recent annual business meeting. by CNB
