Donna Louise Smith Shupe, 93, died Sunday, March 19, 1995, in Riverside Regional Convalescent Center. Born in Grayson County, Va., she was a resident of Grayson County and Newport News.
Mrs. Shupe retired from the Grayson County Public School System as a teacher after 32 years of service. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Fries Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Shupe was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Alfred Shupe. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Ponder of Chesnee, S.C.; her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Hazel Shupe of Chesapeake; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. Bolen Shupe of Newport News; eight grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughan and Gwynn Funeral Home in Galax. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel, Cranberry Road, Galax, Va., by President Raymond Kohl. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Memorial Gardens. Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, assisted with funeral arrangements.
