ROB ROY POPE

Rob Roy Pope, 59, died Sunday, March 19, 1995, at his home.

Born in New York City, Mr. Pope had lived in Norfolk, Va., for eight years before moving to Mountainside 15 years ago. He was operations manager for Orient Overseas Container Lines in Port Elizabeth, N.J. Mr. Pope graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy in 1956 with a degree in Nautical Science. After graduating Mr. Pope served as chief mate for 15 years with the American Export Lines traveling worldwide.

He was a member of the Maritime Union M.E.B.A. in New York.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Virginia Pope; a son, Lawrence Pope of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Joy Danielle Pope of Mountainside, N.J; his mother and stepfather, Alice and Charles Cassidy of Glendale, Calif.; four brothers, Frank Pope and James Pope, both of New Jersey, and Michael Cassidy and Richard Cassidy, both of California; two sisters, Virginia Thompson of Tacoma, Wash., and Marcella Wetzel of London, Ohio; and mother-in-law, Irma S. Towe of Norfolk.

A funeral service will be held at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Mountainside, N.J., at 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
