Paul R. Powell, 75, of the 2700 block of Victoria Ave., died Sunday, March 19, 1995.
He was born in Norfolk and was a product of the Norfolk school system.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army and was trained as a diesel mechanic until he was honorably discharged. After returning to Norfolk, he worked as a diesel mechanic at the Amphibious Base, Little Creek, where he retired in 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Ozella Powell; seven sisters, Luvenia Trafton, Geraldine Brown, Vivian Floyd, Pinkie Evans, Birdie Haley, Rosetta Simon, Mildred McCollough; two brothers, Nathaniel and Raymond Powell; two step-sons, Robert and Eugene Bly; one step-daughter, Precious Carson; 12 step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in First Calvary Baptist Church, Henry and Wide Streets, by the Rev. Johnny L. White. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
