William Henry Coston, 69, of the 7000 block of Auberne Ave., died Mar. 19, 1995, in Norfolk Health Care Center.
He was a retired Merchant Seaman with the National Maritime Union with 27 years of service, and was a native of Norfolk. He was Methodist, and a retired member of the National Maritime Union Association.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Gail Hodges of Norfolk; four sisters, Geraldine C. Brown of Norfolk, Joan C. Davis, Barbara E. Massey, both of Virginia Beach, and Faith C. Colden of Chesapeake; two brothers, Maceo A. Coston Jr. of Norfolk and Vincent M. Coston of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren; one aunt, Dorothy Vincent of Norfolk; three brothers-in-law, George Davis, Otis L. Massey, both of Virginia Beach, and Joseph A. Colden III of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucy V. Coston and Maceo A. Coston Sr.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. today in Hale Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will assemble at 3512 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, the home of his niece, April Skinner-Morrow.
