Andrew Hiawathia Gray Sr., of the 2900 block of Queen City Road, a retired aircraft mechanic, died March 20, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gray was born in Southampton County, Va., and was retired from the Naval Operations Base, Norfolk, after 30 years. He was the widower of Catherine E. Gray. He was treasurer of The Senior Citizens Joy Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Nelda Gray Simms of Cleveland, Ohio; five sons, Andrew H. Gray Jr. and Wilbur Gray of Chesapeake, William T. Gray of St. Louis, Mo., Marvin A. Gray of Craigsville, Va., and Alvin Gray of Cleveland; a sister, Malissa Woods of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in New Hope Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Dr. Sidney Foster. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. A family wake will be held in Fitchett Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
