Virginia Lerch Phipps, 91, of the 1000 block of Hampton Blvd., a retired school teacher, died March 22, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Phipps taught at Taylor, Ballentine and Lafayette schools in the Norfolk City School System. She was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Mrs. Phipps graduated from high school in Newport News and was a graduate of Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Adele Starnes and her husband, Lawrence J. Starnes; and a grandchild, Virginia Randolph Starnes, all of Fairfax Station, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Charles Joy. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Elementary School Library, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, Va. 22039.
