JUNIOR E. SUMMERFIELD

Junior Earl Summerfield, 71, of Route 3, died March 20, 1995, in his residence.

He was a native of Elkins, W.Va., and had retired as an engineer from Norfolk & Portsmouth Beltline Railroad. He was a member of First Friends Church in Portsmouth, United Transportation Union, Western Branch Masonic Lodge (NU)189, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Davis Summerfield; a daughter, Betsy Elaine Summerfield of Richlands, Va.; a son, David Bruce Summerfield of Gate City, Va.; his mother, Naomi Kittle Summerfield of Suffolk; two sisters, Loretta Farthing of Augusta, Ga. and Sybil Davis of Sylvester, Ga.; a brother, Burton R. Summerfield of Titusville, Fla.; and a grandson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Frank Carter. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
