THIRD SLAYING SUSPECT HELD

The third man suspected in the March 15 slaying of a Portsmouth man was arrested in Norfolk Tuesday night on an outstanding robbery warrant.

Donovan E. Jones, 23, of the 1400 block of Melon Drive in Norfolk was charged with murder in the slaying of Stephen Parker, 39, who was gunned down in the 1100 block of Barbour Drive.

Deangelo Reed, 17, of the first block of Suburban Court in Portsmouth was also shot. He is listed in stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

In addition to the murder charge, Jones was charged with one count of malicious wounding, three counts of attempting to kill, five counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Already charged in Parker's murder were two Portsmouth residents, Sylvester F. Pleasant Jr., 18, of the 2500 block of Graham St. and Melvin D. Granger, 21, of the 500 block of Gygax Ave.
