One of two youths convicted in the killing of a Norfolk taxi driver last April was sentenced Tuesday to life plus five years in prison.
Howard Lee Chapman, 18, had been convicted of first-degree murder and attempted robbery in the shooting death of Donald J. Reynolds. He was convicted on Jan. 9 by Circuit Judge Charles E. Poston.
Chapman's co-defendant, Reginald Evans, was convicted by a jury on Feb. 8 of capital murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy and two firearms charges. Evans, who was 15 when he shot Reynolds, is scheduled for sentencing on April 24.
Evans, now 16, faces a possible life term for the murder, up to 10 years each on the attempted robbery and conspiracy charges, three years on one firearms charge and five years on the other. Reynolds, 43, died after being shot five times in an attempted robbery. Evans was identified as the triggerman.
