Peebles Department Stores, the South Hill-based department store chain, said Wednesday that it will add seven stores this year. Last year, Peebles opened its first South Hampton Roads store in Norfolk's Southern Shopping Center. This year, new outlets are scheduled for Stafford, Appomattox and Wytheville in Virginia; Humbolt, Tenn.; Marion, N.C.; and Auburn, N.Y. A store slated for Sylacauga, Ala., will be the first in that state. Peebles - which targets underserved, medium-sized markets - carries a variety of clothing, shoes, accessories and home furnishings. by CNB
