ECSU Professor Robert L. ``Bobby'' Vaughan, a former basketball coach at the school and the namesake of a campus building, has submitted a letter of retirement effective at the end of May, Vaughan said Wednesday night.
``I'm going to do some other things,'' said Vaughan, who has worked at Elizabeth City State University for more than 45 years and said he will retire as the longest-tenured professor in the school's history.
``I've enjoyed it,'' Vaughan said of his ECSU career. ``The school's been good to me. . . . This community's grown on me, and I feel comfortable everywhere I go.''
Vaughan said he will, among other things, be a basketball field scout for a Virginia Beach-based company called Global Sports Management. He also is vice chairman of the Pasquotank-Elizabeth City Governmental Study Commission. by CNB
