Ralf H.G. Baerner, 45, of the 300 block of Norfolk Ave., died March 19, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Baerner was born in Norderney, Germany, and was a Lutheran. He was one of the founding fathers of soccer at Old Dominion University and in the Tidewater area, and was also one of the most active members of the over 30-40 league. He was a graduate of Old Dominion University.
He is survived by a brother, Joerg Baerner of Germany and by many good friends.
A graveside service will be at noon Monday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by the Rev. Melvin Hughes. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Luynnhaven Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Ralf Baerner Memorial Week-End Soccer Tournament, c/o George Staehle, Treasurer, 2180 Middleburg Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454.
