TERMITES TAKE TOLL: Termites have taken their toll on Kellam High School's auditorium, forcing the school to shut down the hall before this year's production of ``The Sound of Music.''
But the show has gone on - at Landstown Middle School - thanks to the tenacity of students and teachers in Kellam's music and theater departments and the help of parents and volunteers, drama director Tammy G. Smith said.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 tonight and Saturday at Landstown Middle, 2204 Recreation Drive, near Princess Anne Park. Tickets are $4 for adults and students and $2 for children under 11.

FUND FOR FAMILY: A fund has been established at Central Fidelity Bank to help a family whose rented home was destroyed by fire Wednesday night.
Contributions to the Stella and Jason Godbey Family Fund can be made at any Central Fidelity Bank branch.
The fire at 19 Jouett St. destroyed all of the family's belongings, said Glenn Blaylock, the landlord. He said the family, which did not have renters insurance, has been forced to move in with a neighbor.
Blaylock said Jason Godbey is disabled and there are three children in the family, all under the age of 7.

MAN ARRESTED FOR COCAINE POSSESSION: A Smithfield man was arrested Tuesday after sheriff's deputies making a routine traffic stop found crack cocaine in a vitamin bottle in the man's car.
Johnnie Tynes Jr., 26, was arrested about 9:10 p.m. in Rushmere, after being stopped for driving with a broken headlight.
Deputy T.J. Worrell said the crack, valued at $1,400, was in individual packages in the bottle.
The automobile and $343 were seized.
Tynes was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell cocaine.
Worrell said Tynes had been issued a warning about the broken headlight March 5.
Worrell said Tynes, released from prison Feb. 1 on an arson conviction, said ``this was the only way he knew to make a living.''
Tynes is in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on $75,000 bond.
