SHEILA BOGART INSTRUCTOR, BOOKKEEPER, BUSINESSWOMAN, ETC.

Holding down six concurrent part-time jobs doesn't qualify Sheila Bogart for ``The Guinness Book of World Records,'' but it does give her the distinction of being one busy lady.

In addition to being the mother of two, she works 20 hours a week as the coordinator of 300 volunteers for the Virginia Beach Community Service Board Mental Retardation programs.

She teaches five aerobics classes at Chesapeake General Hospital's Lifestyle Fitness Center, keeps books for her husband's business - Apex Office Systems, provides instruction in good nutrition through her own company - Step Up Inc., provides cardio-pulmonary resuscitation instruction for ``A Second Chance CPR'' at Chesapeake General Hospital. Recently she qualified as an instructor trainer for the American Council on Exercise.

``One of my national certifications is through the American Council on Exercise,'' she said. ``They have instructor trainers throughout the country who give lectures and workshops for aerobics instructors. I thought I would be good at that.

``I had wanted to get into a different aspect of fitness training,'' she said. ``So I submitted an application for the job.''

She prepared an extensive course outline and a video of the exercise portion of her proposed workshop.

``Later, I learned from the people at the council that often people submit their applications three or four times before they are accepted. So I was pleased and surprised that I was accepted on my first try.

``Aerobic instructors should have national certification,'' she said. ``Once they are certified, they must continue to earn education credits in the fitness field.'' Now she can provide that training.

She believes that exercise is necessary part of a healthy lifestyle.

``As far as exercise goes, I'm a balance advocate,'' she said. ``I think people need to have some form of exercise in their day, every day. I don't believe aerobics is the only answer. But it sure is a lot of fun.

``Exercising will give you energy,'' she said. ``I hear from people that they're tired. If you will force yourself to exercise, you'll have more energy. It will also make you feel good about yourself.''
