CRIME LINE

Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

A few months ago, tips from Crime Line callers led to the arrest of a man who had been breaking into vending machines.

Now, someone else is stealing from the machines.

On Wednesday, March 8, about 6 p.m., a security camera photographed a man stealing from a vending machine at the beach front.

The suspect is described as black and appears to be in his late teens or early 20s with braided hair.

CHESAPEAKE

Sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. March 11 or 12, an unoccupied tow truck was shot at several times, causing more than $3,700 in damage.

The truck was parked at Rudy's Auto and Recovery Store in the 5200 block of Sondej Avenue.

SUFFOLK

Craig Earl Hargrove is wanted for violation of probation for drug possession and for failing to comply with a court order.

Hargrove is described as black, 5 foot 8, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in the 100 block of Marshall Ave. in Suffolk.

Angelia Michelle Campbell is wanted for violation of parole.

Campbell is described as white, 5 foot 6, 115 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her last known address was in the 3400 block of Holland Road, Apt. B.

Myrtle M. Elliott is wanted on charges of forgery and grand larceny.

Elliott is described as black, 5 foot 9, 264 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Her last known address was in the 500 block of Ockawaha Ave.

Anthony Lamont Ralph is wanted on charges of reckless driving, hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and for questioning in another matter.

Ralph is described as black, 5 feet 10, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in the 500 block of Battery Ave.

HAMPTON

On March 16 about 8:50 p.m., two women approached a clerk at the jewelry counter in Best Products.

Both women were evasive and nervous.

They were able to distract the clerk, enabling male companions to steal jewelry from a display case.

The first suspect is described as black, 40-42 years old, 5 feet 5 with a large build and short red hair.

She was wearing a brown coat and a lime green pantsuit.

The second suspect is described as black, 40 to 42 years old, 5 feet 10 with a large build, short hair and freckles. She was wearing burgundy pants.

The women were accompanied by two men, both described as black and 5 foot 10 to 6 feet tall with thin builds. One man was in his early 20s and the other was more than 50 years old.

The suspects may have been driving a beige, four-door, 1990 Plymouth Sundance.

NEWPORT NEWS

On Jan. 25, the Super 8 Motel at 945 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. was robbed by two people.

Several other motels near Interstate 64 have recently been robbed, apparently by the same individuals.

The robbers take the motels' business receipts and personal items of employees.

Robberies occurred March 14 at 2:50 a.m. in Henrico County; Feb. 22 at 3:50 a.m. and March 14 at 3:40 a.m. in York County; and again Feb. 20 at 2:50 a.m. in Newport News.

The first suspect is described as black with a dark complexion, in his late teens to 30 years old, 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 10 and 150 to 170 pounds.

The second suspect is described as black with a dark complexion, of unknown age, 6 feet to 6 foot 2 and 150 to 170 pounds.

The suspects have worn various items of clothing, including construction gear or combat boots, dark jackets with hoods and camouflage pants.

Weapons used in the robberies include a gray-colored gun, a large black-framed semiautomatic and a .38-caliber revolver. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
