BOY, TEEN WERE NOT TARGET

A 19-year-old man was charged Saturday in connection with a shooting Friday in which a teenager and a young boy were wounded.

Police said the motive for the shooting was not clear but it appeared that neither of the people injured was the gunman's target.

Stravon D. Jordan of the 7200 block of Rosemont Road was charged with two counts each of malicous wounding and of using a firearm while committing a felony. Other suspects are being sought.

The 3-year-old boy, Dajon S. Yearty, remained in critical but stable condition Saturday at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. The other victim, Keisha Harrison, 17, was in stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to her leg.

The shooting occurred about 7 p.m. Friday in the Oakmont Apartments in the 1300 block of Johnstons Road. Both victims were shot while in a stairwell. They live in the building but are not related.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Line at 441-5100 or the Homicide Squad at 441-5505.
