Nicholas Sunchyck, 76, of the 3300 block of Nelson St., died March 25, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Johnstown, Pa., retired from quality control at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, a member of NARFE, U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a U.S. Forestry Service volunteer for 17 years in Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area, Marion, Va.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lillian Opal Sunchyck; two daughters, Jean Powers and Jane Waters, both of Portsmouth; two sisters, Mary Ann Magelitz and Rosetta Homanko, and a brother, Charles W. Sunchyck, all of Johnstown, Pa.; and a grandchild, Donna Marie Waters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. T.M. Frye. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
