CAREER TRACK

ADVERTISING

Joseph Jay Moore III was named vice president and director of public relations with Primm & Co. in Norfolk.

Moore's communications career began in television, including news anchoring and management positions with local stations. He held a corporate communications position with Systems Management American Corp., and most recently was manager of communications with the city of Norfolk.

Moore returns to Primm after five years, when he worked with the marketing, advertising and public relations firm in 1990.

ARCHITECTURAL

Michael K. Myers was promoted to director of mechanical engineering with Forrest Coile Associates in Newport News. He will be responsible for project management and development of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for all projects.

Myers joined the architectural/engineering firm as a mechanical engineer in 1993.

BANKING

Paul T. Going was named president of Commerce Bank's Suffolk banking group at the Main Street location. Going, a commercial lending officer in the bank's Portsmouth office on Crawford Street, will move to the Suffolk post April 1. He will succeed William C. Branche, who has been named to Commerce's corporate banking group.

Virginia Beach Federal Savings Bank promoted M. Peyton Hamrick and Katie B. Weeks to first vice presidents, and David W. Moore Jr. and Christopher M. Wilkinson to assistant vice presidents.

Hamrick is marketing director with the bank's retail team, Weeks is director of human resources, Moore is branch manager of the bank's Great Neck financial center, and Wilkinson is manager of the Greenbrier branch.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICE

Susan R. Caplan was hired in November as marketing director with Snelling Personnel Services in Virginia Beach. She is responsible for sales and promotions.

ORGANIZATIONS

Troy Tripamer was elected president of the newly formed Treasury Management Association, Hampton Roads area. Tripamer is with the city of Virginia Beach's treasurer's office.

United Way of South Hampton Roads elected Denver F. Hicks chairman and David A. King general campaign chairman for the year.

Hicks is a partner with Rauch, Witt & Co. He is immediate past chairman of the United Way's finance committee.

King is a partner with Comm VEST Associates. He has served as regional vice chairman with the organization for the past two years.

MEDIA

Joe DeLatte was appointed to the new position of marketing director with The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star. He will develop a unified marketing effort for the newspapers.

DeLatte was director of marketing with TeleCable's southeastern region of the U.S. TeleCable was sold to Tele-Communications Inc. this year.

LAW

Peter G. Zemanian was elected president of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association. Zemanian is a partner in the Norfolk law firm of Willcox & Savage.

TOURISM

The Hotel & Motel Brokers of America elected David B. Mumford president, and Paul C. Mumford to serve on its board of directors. The organization of real estate brokerage and consulting professionals specialize in hospitality real estate.

David Mumford is president of The Mumford Co. in Newport News, which specializes exclusively in the sale of mid-market hotel properties throughout the U.S.
