HE COULD HAVE CALLED

Donald M. Moore, took issue with my lone vote on what he called King George's (Governor Allen's) budget (letter, March 11). By some stretch of logic, Mr. Moore concluded from my vote that I have no loyalty to senior citizens and they will rally to vote against me in November.

Had Mr. Moore taken a few minutes to telephone me, he would have discovered that I am a disabled veteran, dependent on a retirement income and very close to being a senior citizen myself. He might also have discovered that my vote was in fact against a Democrat amendment which, in my opinion, did not put sufficient funds into the Meals-on-Wheels program. He might even have learned about another amendment, which was not considered but which I did support, that would have used some of the lottery proceeds to fund programs for senior citizens.

Unfortunately, Mr. Moore did not telephone me or even bother to check his facts before taking cheap shots through a letter to the editor.
