Edward Albertson, 69, of the 1000 block of W. Ocean View Ave., died March 27, 1995, at home.
Mr. Albertson was the son of the late C. Kent and Evalina Beale Albertson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Kent and his brother, Douglas Kent Albertson. He was an alumnus of the University of Virginia. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a navigator of B17s in the 8th Air Force, 303rd group, Hell's Angels. He flew 36 daylight bombing missions over Germany and was awarded numerous air medals. He served during the Korean War.
Mr. Albertson worked first as a restaurant owner and, in later years, as an automobile salesman. He made a lifelong study of geology and spent many years exploring and mining for precious metals. Mr. Albertson was also an inventor and was the holder of several patents for tools and sailing equipment.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Albertson; two daughters, Sherry Lane Albertson of Norfolk and Cynthia Davis of Driftwood, Texas; two sons, William E. Albertson of Virginia Beach and Richard K. Albertson of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Grigg of Norfolk; a brother, Robert Albertson of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Taylor Megan Albertson of Virginia Beach and Carl Davis Jr. of Driftwood, Texas; his cousins, Ena Taylor Reed, Dorothy Taylor Callis, Betty Beale Campbell, all of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Miles Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Morris Bennett. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Miles Memorial Church, the American Heart Association, or a charity of donor's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
