Frank Erroll Doss Jr., 73, a resident of Newsoms, died Monday, March 27, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
He had retired as owner of Newsoms Welding Service. He was a native of Pulaski County, Va., and was the son of the late Frank Erroll and Zettia Ledford Doss. He taught the Men's Bible Class of Newsoms United Methodist Church for 30 years. He was a member of the Courtland Masonic Lodge (NU)85, AF & AM, a former member of the Virginia May Lodge (NU)38, Radford, and was a member of the former Newsoms Masonic Lodge (NU)128. He was a member of the JEB Stuart Camp (NU)1343, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Richmond. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Goodrich Doss; a son, Erroll Waverly Doss and his wife, Mary A. Doss of Mechanicsville; two daughters, Ann Doss Davis and her husband, Wyatt F. Davis of Richmond and Carolyn Doss Chenoweth of Richmond; three sisters, Geraldine D. Mullins, Violet D. Carroll and her husband, Wesley Carroll, all of Belspring, Va., and Ruby D. Goad and her husband, Lewis Goad of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Emily Davis, Amy Chenoweth, Brian Doss and Elizabeth Doss; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Catherine Davis of Richmond, and a sister, Juanida D. Webb of Pulaski.
A funeral service will be held in Newsoms United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Patricia Tony and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Grand Lodge of Virginia Scholarship Fund, c/o Grand Lodge of Virginia, AF & AM, 4115 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Va. 23223-4926.
