Other organizations to which he belonged included local, state and national professional societies, the Torch Club of Norfolk, Town-n-Gown, the Chrysler Museum, Portsmouth Museums and the Virginia Beach Center for the Arts. He served a term as president of Planned Parenthood of Norfolk, and later as a director of Planned Parenthood of Southeast Virginia. An amateur photographer, his images were accepted for several shows by The Tidewater Artist's Association and are on display in the Children's Hospital. He was an active member of Larchmont United Methodist Church.
