Bennie D. McLaughlin of the 500 block of Claypool Court, a retired planner and estimator, died March 26, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in Arkansas and was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach, and United Methodist Men; member and past master of Indian River Masonic Lodge (NU)252, AF & AM; and member of Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies and Kempsville Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Hawkins McLaughlin; two sons, F. Loy McLaughlin of Cumberland, Va., and David Wayne McLaughlin of Chesapeake; four sisters, Oneta Turner of Little Rock, Ark., Nellie Holcomb of Mississippi, Mamie Siler and Ova Emde, both of Arkansas; three brothers, Harold McLaughlin of Memphis, Tenn., Murrell McLaughlin of Independence, Mo., and Orland McLaughlin of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren, Sherri McLaughlin Butler, and Jason, Daniel, Eric and Carrie McLaughlin; five stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Community United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ben Hadley-Goggin and the Rev. George Boyd. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church or Virginia Heights Baptist Church.
