Kevin J. Kinstler, 58, of the 5600 block of Greenfield Drive N., died March 28, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Kinstler was born in Bronx, N.Y., and was a Roman Catholic. He was a retired chief engineer of the Military Sealift Command after 23 years of service. He was a 1959 graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kinstler; five daughters, Jennifer L. Kinstler of Portsmouth, Kathleen A. Cook of Inverkip, Scotland, Theresa A. Painter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Beth Wood of Sterling, Va., and Carol A. Tregembo of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Michael D. Gibson of Columbus, Ohio, and Kevin J. Kinstler Jr. of Springville, Ore.; his mother, Gertrude O. Kinstler; a sister, Gertrude Lynch of Scotia, N.Y.; two brothers, Joseph N. Kinstler of New York City and Thomas J. Kinstler of Springville, Ala.; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Kinstler.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Burial will be at sea at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Maryview Foundation for the Maryview Garden of Life, 3636 High St., Portsmouth, Va. 23707.
