College of the Albemarle's college transfer graduates perform better than the average community college student in North Carolina, according to a recent report.
A study by the University of North Carolina indicates COA students entering a four-year state college have a mean grade point average of 3.07 of a possible 4.0, compared with 2.59 statewide.
The high marks continue a five-year trend at the college, where COA transfer students consistently have scored higher than the rest of the community college graduates and never dropped below a 2.91 grade point average at the end of the year, a news release said.
``If you consider these numbers together with our high employment rates for technical and vocational graduates, you can see that COA offers several high-quality routes to success in the workplace,'' said COA President Larry Donnithorne.
The bulk of COA's transfer students in 1993-94 went to Elizabeth City State University and East Carolina University. by CNB
