Portsmouth lawyer Andrew H. Hook of Oast, Hook, Crowe & Resolute, P.C., has completed the first examination leading to certification in the area of elder law.
Hook, now a certified elder law attorney, has practiced elder law since 1975. He focuses his practice on elder law, estate planning and estate administration.
Hook is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
The National Elder Law Foundation is the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer certification in elder law.
Shirley Griffin, a licensed practical nurse at Autumn Care of Portsmouth, recently was recognized at a banquet hosted by Autumn Corp., headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C.
As ``Facility Employee of the Year'' at Autumn Care, she was one of 18 candidates for the ``Corporate Employee of the Year'' award.
