Charlie Roy Mason, 71, of the 4400 block of Gannon Road, a retired insurance agent and counselor for Nationwide Insurance Company, died March 29, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Mason was a native of Lavonia, Ga. He was a member of Alliance Christian Church, Western Branch Masonic Lodge (NU)189, and was a Navy and Coast Guard veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Mason; a daughter, Star Vista Coker of Portsmouth; three sons, Stan Mason of Atlanta, Perry Mason of Tulsa, Okla., and Michael Mason of Norfolk; two sisters, Eddie Grace Chasteen and Mattie Thomas of Longview, Texas; four brothers, Robert Jones Mason of Athens, Ga., Clarence L. Mason of Chesapeake, Howard J. Mason of Morrow, Ga., and Richard Mason of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Alliance Christian Church by the Rev. David P. Klinsing. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m today at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland.
