Why do streets that have no outlet have a sign reading ``Dead End''? Why not just ``End''? That says it all.
Further, it has been my experience that the end of no-outlet streets is anything but dead. Some come up to a body of water, others peter out at the edge of a wooded area, and still others finish in front of an interesting house.
