RAISE THE STANDARDS

I am a mother of two school-age children and a former teacher in public schools. I care about the quality of education in Virginia.

Hooray for Governor Allen, William Bosher and all those who are investing their time and energies in raising the quality of education for our children.

Our children do need to be taught more facts earlier (social-studies knowledge-based approach). They can learn so much more than we think they can if the material is presented in the right way and if they sense that we expect they are indeed capable of learning.

Let us raise our standards and make them measurable, not vague.
