JOHNNIE M. VINES

Johnnie Mae Vines, 79, of 8464 W. Blackwater Road, died April 1, 1995, in Obici Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Isle of Wight County. She was the daughter of the late George Gray and Iola Darden Gray and the widow of James C. Vines Sr. She was a domestic worker. She was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church for over 65 years where she served on the deaconess board for over 15 years.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Vernetta Grant of Suffolk, Va., Mrs. Donna Davis of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Anginetta Pretlow of Smithfield, Va., Miss Clarice Vines of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Judy Pemberton of New York; five sons, Sylvester Vines of Portsmouth, Theodore Vines of Brooklyn, Randolph Vines and James Clyde Vines, Jr., both of Windsor, and Rudolph Vines of New York; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 4, 1995, at 1 p.m. in Morning Star Baptist Church by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson. Burial will be in the Tyler Cemetery of Windsor. Viewing will begin 12 noon Monday in Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church Tuesday at 11 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at her residence at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the procession.
