Robert Jorgenson's letter ``Preserve the battleship as museum'' (March 21) prompts me to say that Norfolk does not need to shell out money for the upkeep of an obsolete naval vessel when it may become just another white elephant.
If you look at the history of similar projects, such as Nauticus, you will see that this will be just another drain on the city's economy.
The money for a battleship would be better spent on educational or recreational facilities that would have a broader appeal.
