CAREER TRACK

ARCHITECTURAL

The TAF Group in Virginia Beach appointed Donald G. Taylor, Catherine A. Holder and James O. Myers to its board of directors.

MMM Design appointed three new engineers, Heiko Dewees, Teresa K. Shannon, and Kevin W. Heitz. Dewees and Shannon are recent graduates of Old Dominion University, and Heitz of the University of Illinois.

ART

Robert McFarland was elected president of the board of directors of the d'Art Center in Norfolk. McFarland is with the law firm of McGuire Woods Battle & Booth in Norfolk.

BANKING

Naval Air Federal Credit Union promoted Rene Bollinger and Phillip Richards to assistant vice president positions.

Bollinger works with the credit union's human resources department where she is responsible for all aspects of human resources and employee training.

Working with Naval Air's strategic planning and marketing, Richards is also responsible for business and product development and quality assurance. He joined the credit union in 1991 as ad director of marketing.

ENGINEERING

D. Kimn Beatley was promoted to vice president with Espey, Huston & Associates in Williamsburg. Beatley joined Espey in 1987 and heads the firms civil engineering design department

FINANCIAL

Lisa Klein was promoted to branch manager with Household Finance Corp. in Newport News. Klein has been with the financial services company for six years, most recently as an account executive.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Wayne Ferguson was appointed medical director with the Coastal Cancer Center at Virginia Beach General Hospital. Ferguson is a partner with Virginia Beach Surgery Ltd.

HOSPITALITY

Lacy Gibson was appointed director of sales with the Ramada Hotel in downtown Norfolk. Gibson was the assistant director of sales for the Norfolk Airport Hilton

INDUSTRY

Melissa Edmonds was named director of Goodwill Industries of Hampton Roads Inc., Peninsula division. Edmonds joined Goodwill in 1991 as an employment specialist. She was most recently director of human resources with the agency.

LAW

Shuttleworth, Ruloff, Giordano & Kahle named Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., Stephen J. Davis, and Lisa P. O'Donnell shareholders in its law firm in Virginia Beach.

Willcox & Savage in Norfolk appointed William M. Furr and John S. Wilson members of its law firm. Both Furr and Wilson joined Willcox & Savage in 1988. Furr practices in the labor and employment law section, and Wilson practices in the firm's commercial litigation section.

Debra C. Albiston was named of counsel with the law firm of Kaufman & Canoles in Virginia Beach. She will practice in the area of family law.

Albiston was a partner with Weinberg & Stein in Norfolk, where she practiced family law for 11 years.

MEDIA

Elise Kennett was named general manger of WWDE (2WD) and WNVZ (Z104)-Radio. Kennett replaces Dick Lamb, executive vice president of Max Radio Inc., the station's owner.

Kennett was vice president/general manager with WTVZ-TV (Fox 33) until it was sold to Sinclair Broadcast Group.

ORGANIZATIONS

The Executive Women International, Hampton Roads chapter, elected Barbara Brooks president for the 1995 year. Brooks is with The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star.

TRANSPORTATION

Dezora M. (Dee) Martin was elected corporate secretary for Norfolk Southern Corp., effective April 1. She will succeed Donald E. Middleton, who retires March 31 after 47 years of service.

Martin began her career with Norfolk and Western Railway, a predecessor of Norfolk Southern, as a typist in the material management department in Roanoke in 1972. She was appointed assistant corporate secretary in 1993.

MID-ATLANTIC

Walter A. Varvel has been named first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. He will succeed Jimmie R. Monhollon, who will retire May 31.

Varvel joined the Federal Reserve in 1974 as a research economist. Currently, he is the senior vice president and officer in charge of the Fed's 5th District offices in Charlotte, N.C., and Columbia, S.C. The 5th District is based in Richmond.
