Carthine Barrow-Bynum, of the 1200 block of W. 26th St., died March 31, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.
Mrs. Barrow-Bynum was born in Columbia, N.C. She was a seamstress and co-owner of Bynum Upholstery and a member of Mt. Olive C.O.G.I.C., Bells Mills.
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin F. Bynum; eight daughters, Ella Basnight of Bronx, N.Y., Shirley Askew and Deborah Perkins, both of Chesapeake, Edna Eure and Tammy Bynum, both of Norfolk, Evelyn House of Westbury, N.Y., Ann Bynum of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Phyllis Baker of Virginia Beach; two sons, Larry Franklin Basnight and B. Ray Harrell, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Wormwood Barrow of Newport News and Calvin Barrow of Columbia, S.C.; 40 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a father-in-law, Dennis Pitt of Bethel, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The remains will be ready for viewing at noon Wednesday and will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
