WILLIAM M. PRENTISS JR.

William McKinley Prentiss Jr., 67, of the 4400 block of Paul Jones Lane, a retired computer programmer, died in a local hospital on April 1, 1995.

Mr. Prentiss was born in Worcester, Mass. He had retired from the Naval Supply Center and was a United States Coast Guard veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Setzer Prentiss; four daughters, Pamela M. Robinson and Jill E. Prentiss, both of Virginia Beach, Patricia L. Dennis of Suisun, Calif. and Debra P. Felts of Chesapeake; two sons, William M. Prentiss III and Joseph P. Prentiss, both of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Patricia Duke of Norfolk, Ella M. Adams of Fayetteville, N.C. and Mary McKinney of Chocwinity, N.C. and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at 2 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel by the Rev. Warren Skinner. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m for visitation.

``Mr. Prentiss, Jr. was the kindest, most generous man that existed. He was a loved and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who was always there for anyone who needed him. His death is a tremendous loss for all who knew him and leaves a void in their lives as well as their hearts that can never be filled.''
