Mrs. Sarah Louise Jordan Moore, widow of Herman Lloyd Moore, 83, died Saturday, April 1, 1995, in Walter Reed Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Beulah Foxwell and William A. Jordan. She was born in Gloucester County and had been a Gloucester County resident all of her life. She had been a private duty nursing aid for 20 years and was a longtime member of Newington Baptist Church, serving in numerous capacities, including teaching Bible School. In earlier years, she had worked as a Red Cross Volunteer, participating in and teaching practical nursing classes. She was active for a number of years in the Botetaurt Elementary and Gloucester High School PTA's, as well as in the Gloucester Homemakers Club. As an emergency medical technician she served with the Gloucester Volunteer Rescue Squad for 15 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia M. and Dr. N. Turner Gray of Virginia Beach and Lois M. and Ernest H. Paulson of Gloucester; four sisters, Emily Altman of Fairborne, Ohio, Katherine White of Deltaville, Va., Mae Bradshaw of Gloucester and Marie Salyer of Abderdeen, Md.; three brothers, William A. Jordan of Gloucester, J. Hilton Jordan of Newport News and Grayson B. Jordan of Yorktown; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Newington Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael R. Gray. Burial will be in Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Andrews Funeral Home.
