A woman in her 70s was killed Monday afternoon after she wandered into traffic in the 1200 block of N. Military Highway near Janaf Shopping Center, police said.
The woman was walking north on the highway when she stepped out into traffic and was hit by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup, police said. She died at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Police think the woman had left a nearby Wal-Mart store before the accident.
The woman was not carrying identification, police said. She had gray hair and was 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 140 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at 441-5100.
