JOHN ``JACK'' DUNN has been managing marinas since 1988, and now he's getting ready to manage Smithfield Station's new waterfront eatery.
Dunn is the new manager of Boardwalk Raw Bar and Grill, an outside restaurant for boaters and other hungry customers, scheduled to be open Fridays beginning April 14. Days and hours of operation will be expanded over the next two months.
``This is not a bar,'' Dunn said. ``This is a restaurant that happens to have a bar. We're trying to keep things in the same vein as the big house - family-orientated like Smithfield Station restaurant.''
The restaurant will seat about 140 people, Dunn said.
``You always need a gimmick to get people to come in, and here it's the waterfront and the historic tourism.''
There also will be live entertainment Friday nights, Dunn said, and open-stage acts Wednesdays for area artists to play for free.
``It's a chance for them to be heard,'' Dunn said.
