As a parent of a young son, one of my chief daily needs is for quality child care. It has been my good fortune to have had my child receive expert care from a child-care professional whose home day care is affiliated with the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
The Welfare Reform Consolidation Act advancing in Congress is a threat to this and similar programs, for without it, our provider cannot continue her quality, affordable program. She may need to close her program altogether.
The care of our child, and countless others across the nation, is at risk. Child-care professionals and child-development authorities agree that providing good nutrition from an early age is vital to our children. This is an opportunity to support child-development rather than (more expensively) remediating children's problems at a later stage.
Let's support the Child and Adult Care Food Program. It is an effective investment in our society.
