Willie Gadson, formerly of the 2900 block of Beachmont Ave., died March 30, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Gadson was born in Pawleys Island, S.C. He was the son of the late Mariah and Joseph Gadson and was the husband of the late Janie Gadson. He was retired as an oiler from the Norfolk Naval Base. He was a member of Union Chapel AME Church, Norfolk, and was known as the father of the church. He was a Scout master, a Christian and faithful member of the church, community leader, member of the NAACP, a role model for many, and was on the Trustee and Steward boards of the church. He was a beautiful person to his sisters and his family.
Survivors include two sisters, Lola G. Brown and Vernice Holmes, both of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Brown of Norfolk; devoted neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Branch of Norfolk; and a host of other devoted relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Union Chapel AME Church, 1200 St. Julian Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Clifton R. Wilson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. Family and friends will assemble at 301 W. 35th St., Norfolk, at noon Thursday for the funeral processional to the church.
