Hartless Cornelius Boyd of the 1300 block of Lake James Drive, died April 3, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Boyd was born in Kingstree, S.C., and had been employed in the textile industry with Pearl Binding Corp. He was a member of Penial Baptist Church in Philadelphia and its Deacon and Trustee boards. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Watkins-Boyd; a daughter, Ruth Wright of South Carolina; two sons, Cornelius Boyd of Philadelphia and Kendall Boyd of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Robert Watkins of Philadelphia; four sisters, Hattie Watkins of Philadelphia, Ruth Green of Salters, S.C., Roberta Dozier of Greeleyville, S.C. and Ruby Fulton of Kingstree, S.C.; three brothers, James Boyd of Philadelphia, Nathaniel ``Tom'' Boyd and Alfred Boyd, both of Kingstree; two stepbrothers, James and William McGill of Kingstree; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Rock Church by the Rev. Betty Forbes and Tim Jackson. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Thursday and will be taken to church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family will assemble at the residence at 11:30 a.m. for the processional. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
