WILLIAM A. WHITE

William Allen White, 73, of Neville Street, a retired rigger and newspaper carrier, died April 3, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

Mr. White was born in Moyock, N.C. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and The Virginian-Pilot, was a member of Noble Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and was the widower of Annie R. White and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, Calvin N. White of Barco, N.C.; a brother, John Mercer of Moyock, N.C.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; an aunt; a daughter-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie T. Northam. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, where family and friends will assemble at 1:15 p.m. Thursday for the funeral service.
