The Weather Channel and its Norfolk-based parent, Landmark Communications Inc., were accused of patent infringement in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Norfolk. Personalized Mass Media Corp. of New York filed the suit alleging that some of its patented technology is being used without permission. Thirteen Virginia cable-TV operators that carry The Weather Channel were also named. A Landmark spokesman said the company believes the suit is without merit. by CNB
