PERDUE CAME THROUGH

The item in Sunday Business (April 2) concerning Jim Perdue reminded me of correspondence I had with his famous father 20 or so years ago. My wife was not satisfied with the quality of a Perdue chicken, and I so informed him.

In that same letter I noted that he was overlooking an obvious sales slogan for his line, which he was touting as ``the biggest breasts in the business.'' I suggested that he call this line ``Perdue's Partonized Poultry.'' He did not use my suggestion, however - too chicken I presume.

To his credit, Frank sent a personally composed and signed apology for the complaint and included a certificate for a replacement.
