Elnora C. Cook, 86, of the 2000 block of Atlanta Ave., a retired government teacher in the Portsmouth Public School System after 40 years, died April 4, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.
She was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Edward Cook. Mrs. Cook taught at I.C. Norcom High School. She was a member of Third Baptist Church; former member of the Prayer Band; Sunday School teacher; Cheerful Givers; and Missionary Group (NU)7. She was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority; Portsmouth Retired Teachers Association; Virginia State Retired Teachers Association; and University Women.
She is survived by a cousin, Marion Holloman of Los Angeles; her children; and a host of friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Third Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home, where the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
