Robert A. Leggett III will succeed his father as president of Leggett Stores, the Lynchburg-based chain of department stores. The retirement of his father, Robert Leggett Jr., marks the end of his 44-year career with the company. He headed the company's finance division and served twice as company president, from 1980 to 1983 and from 1983 until his recent retirement.
