After extensive remodeling and decorating, The Gallery Grill opened last week at 308 High St.
Sam Mandaleris, the owner, is no stranger to Downtown. He owns and operates Pop's Kabobs and other businesses at Portside.
The Gallery Grill decor is striking in lavender, pink and aqua. Colored neon lights are sculpture on the walls along with a display of original art.
``I'm excited about the place,'' Mandaleris said. ``I think there's a lot of future in Portsmouth.''
He already has worked out a cooperative deal that will offer a visit to the Children's Museum, a box lunch and a ride on the Carrie B.
A special kids' section on the menu includes peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches. The menu also features a variety of burgers, hot dogs, salads, pizza and sandwiches.
The grill will be open 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday; noon-6 p.m. Sunday. by CNB
