Henry W. Schaedel, 91, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, died Wednesday, April 5 in his residence at Westminster-Canterbury.
Mr. Schaedel was born in Newark, N.J., on Feb. 13, 1904, and had taught in the Hempstead Public School system on Long Island, N.Y., for 39 years as an industrial arts teacher. He had been a member of Christ's First Presbyterian Church of Hempstead, N.Y., for many years, where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of Wycliffe Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach for the last 12 years of his life.
Mr. Schaedel was educated at Hiram College in Ohio, The University of Chicago, New York University, City College of New York and Hofstra University.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Flora M. Schaedel; his daughter, Marguerite S. Rece of Augusta, Ga.; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. and Nancy W. Schaedel of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Schaedel was the oldest son in a family of nine children. Surviving is his sister, Paula S. Mueller of Reston, Va., and his brother, Dr. Richard Schaedel of Austin, Texas.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 1995, at Westminster-Canterbury Commons at 3100 Shore Drive by the Rev. William M. Shelton and Rev. Allen Johnson.
